When To Be a Boy?, Jillian Schroeder, 2008
I designed this cover (type coulda used some beefing up, I see), and designed and edited the paperback book, for Zak Sally’s publishing class at MCAD in ‘08. It collects stuff by Jillian Schroeder of Minneapolis’s Hark! Press (warning, this is a link to a myspace). I planned to put it out through Bare Bones Press before I decided to focus on my own cartooning. Zak said “I kinda think I’m gonna kill you” because of its similarity to his wraparound Like a Dog** cover* — which I had never seen and wasn’t coming out for another two years.
* Similar to his accusations in class of “Where’s my phone? Did somebody take my phone?” or “Who stole my coffee? Seriously, this isn’t funny.”
